Canadian National Day.— New Zealand’s regard for Canada was expressed by the Mayor (Mr E. H Andrews) at a reception held on Tuesday by the Assistant Trade Commissioner for Canada (Mr R. M. R. Dale! to celebrate Canadian National Day. Mr Dale entertained the Mayor and representative businessmen and organisations in the Mayfair Lounge. Mr Andrews also spoke of the hospitality of Canadians to New Zealanders during the war, and paid a tribute to Canadian help to Britain both during and since the war. In reply. Mr Dale assured his guests that Canada took a great interest in New Zealand.
