FRANCO SPEAKS ON SPAIN
Sir, —I. wish to thank you for publishing the recent article under this title. I have always contended in favour of Franco. I have felt that he was very much misunderstood and that is borne out by the fact, that he still is where he was, on an immovable pedestal, and he is likely to remain there. Ever since he took control of Spain, against the Republicans (Communists) he has been strongly loyal to his Spain. No doubt Franco has faults, just as we all have. Even our own Prime Minister of New Zealand has his enemies. I sincerely trust the New Zealand watersiders have loaded Spain’s wool, which the Spaniards are waiting for, as I, too, am longing for some Spanish wine and olive oil.— Yours, etc., JAS. HILL. Belfast, July 2. 1947.
