Fields of 24 and 19 respectively have accepted for the Ten Thousand and Doomben Cup. There are reports that H. N. Wiggins is trying to obtain air transport from New Zealand to ride King Karachi. Mr Maurice Hope, owner of King Karachi, said he had pinned his faith on the chances of Wiggins getting across, as he wanted a rider who understood the horse. SYDNEY RIDER FOR PETER ROBINSON (Rec. 10 p.m.) BRISBANE, July 2. The Sydney jockey, A. Ward, will leave by aeroplane on Friday to ride the New Zealander, Peter Robinson, in the Doomben Ten Thousand on Saturday. Peter Robinson is now pronounced second favourite. The mount had been declined by J. Thompson, W. Cook, E. Fordyce, and the apprentice T. Mulland. Ward, who is well known for his success in handling intractable horses, gave up three mounts to accept the engagement. He will resume riding on Saturday after two months’ suspension.
