NEW APPEAL AUTHORITY
TRANSPORT LICENSING APPOINTMENT OF MR JUSTICE ARCHER (P.A.) WELLINGTON. lune 18. The appointment of a neW transport appeal authority was announced to-day by the Minister of Transport (Mr G. O’Brien). “Judge K. G. Archer, of the Land Sales Court, has kindly agreed to assist the Government in Piling the vacancy caused by the recent resignation of Sir Francis Frazer,’' said the Minister “His duties will cover the hearing of all appeals, in many cases at public sittings, from decisions of licensing authorities dealing with passenger services and goods services throughout the Dominion. “The co-operation shown by Judge Archer in assisting the Government by taking over these additional duties is much appreciated. I should like to take this opportunity to pay a tribute to the wonderful work done by Sir Francis Frazer in the five years during which he held the position. These included the years during which transport problems tfrere complicated and increased by special war-time regulations. It can be stated without question that he possessed the complete confidence of the various classes of road transport operators, and the Government and operators, I am sure, are very sorry indeed that he has, acting on medical advice, found it necessary to relinquish this branch of his activities.”
