FOUND GUILTY OF CONTEMPT

COMMUNIST LEADER IN U.S. (Rec. 7 p.m.) WASHINGTON, June 10. A Federal Court jury found Gerhart Eisler, German-born Communist and self-styled New York journalist, guilty of contempt of Congress. Eisler faces a possible penalty of a year’s imprisonment and a 1000-dollar fine. He has been regarded as the brains of the Communist undercover activities in the United States. On February 6, Eisler refused to be sworn as a witness before the House Committee on Un-American Activities. The jury, which comprised five men and seven women, included two negroes. It deliberated only five minutes.
