The weather forecast for Canterbury Issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with tne 20 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: Situation: there is a deep depression south-east of New Zealand, and a deep depression over the south-west Tasman. Forecast to 5 p.m.: moderate or fresh south-west winds, decreasing and becoming variable. Scattered showers at first, chiefly about and north of Banks Peninsula, but weather improving and becoming fair. Temperatures cool. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Moderate or fresh westerly winds. Changeable westerly weather, with scattered showers, but fair intervals. Temperatures moderate. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather was overcast yesterday with occasional showers and a moderate sOuth-west wind. The maximum temperature was 49 degrees. At 1 o’clock this morning the sky was clear and there was no wind. The barometer, rising, registered 29.65 in (1004.1 millibars).
