DOG TRIALS
N.Z. CHAMPIONSHIPS CONCLUDED (P.A.) DANNEVIRKE, June 10. The North Island and New Zealand dog trials concluded this afternoon. There was very windy and showery weather for the last two days of the championship. Results:— Long Heads.—North Island championship: H. Harris’s (Taihape) General Haig, 46J points. 1; D. A. Morrison’s (Makotuku) Jock. 46, 2; G. M. Kerr’s (Weber) Spot, 45, 3. New Zealand championship: L. G. Gallier.’s (Waipawa) Dick, 47J points, 1; H. Harris’s (Taihape) General Haig, 46, 2; D. A. Morrison’s (Makotuku), 43, 3: J. D. Robb Corry’s (Stratford) Diplomat, 40J, 4. There were 174 competitors. METHVEN CLUB’S SUCCESSFUL THREE-DAY MEETING The fifty-first annual trials held recently by the Methven Collie Dog Club at “Rosehill,” Methven, was one of the most successful held by the club. The judge was Mr A. L. Trumper (“Eskhead,” North Canterbury). Results were:— Class I.—Huntaway: L. P. Chapman’s Twjeed 1. H. Scott’s Storm 2, P. C. Ensor’s Bounce 3, George Ivey’s Tip 4. Maiden: A. Harmer’s Fog 1, J. Hart’s Scott 2, W. D. Grieve’s Nell 3. J. Radcliffe’s Bruce 4. Class ll.—Long pull, open: R. M. Wilson’s Roy 1, R. M. Wilson’s Gem 2, R. M. Wilson’s Moss 3, R. M. Wilson’S Mac Again 4. Maiden: J. Logan’s Boy 1, S. Pawsey’s Joe 2, D. L. Ensor's Tweed 3, T. S. Harrison’s Roy 4. Class lll.—Short pull, open: R. M. Wilson’s Roy 1, J. Radcliffe's Bob 2, R. M. Wilson’s Moss 3, T. Brankin’s Hope 4. Maiden: J. Hill’s Tip 1, D. McLaughlin’s Lochinvar 2, J. D. Wilson’s Maid 3, A. Harmer’s Laddie 4. Mrs E. Hepburn was in charge of luncheon and afternoon tea arrangements on the three days, and a capable committee, under the direction of Mr L. L. Richards, supervised the trials.
