SILVER JUBILEE OF PRIEST
REV. FATHER P. TIMONEY The Very Rev. Father P. Timoney, parish priest of St. Joseph’s parish, Papanui, will this week celebrate the twenty-fifth aniversary of his ordination to the priesthood and celebrations are to be held in the parish to mark
the jubilee. Father Timoney, before coming to Papanui about seven years ago, was formerly well known in Christchurch as Administrator at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Barbadoes street.
Father Timoney was ordained at All Hallows, Dublin, in June, 1922, and soon after his ofdination came to New Zealand. For a short time he was stationed at Auckland, but later transferred to the diocese of Christchurch, to which he has been attached for more than 20 years. This morning a Solemn Pontifical Mass to mark the jubilee will be held at St. Joseph’s Church, and to-morrow evening parishioners will honour Father Timoney at a reception in Papanui.
