Wellington, and dealing with tne 20 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: Situation: a deep depression is centred south-east oi the South is Jan a. Forecast to 5 p.m.: moderate or fresh south-west winds. Weather cool and changeable, with scattered Ulowers, chiefly about and north of Banks Peninsula. W EST COAST Moderate to fresh west or southwest winds. Occasional showers north of Hokitika, but weather becoming fair elsewhere. Temperatures cool. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER After heavy rain early yesterday, the weather cleared and the rest of the day was fine and sunny with a light southwest wind. The maximum temperature was 56.6 degrees. , At 1 o’clock this morning the sky was cloudy with a light south-west wind. The barometer, rising, registered 29.20 inches (988.8 millibars).
