STRIKE POSTPONES FRENCH CLASSIC
(Rec. 5.5 p.m.) PARIS, Juns 8. The Prix de Diane (the French Oaks), which was to have been decided at Longchamps to-day, was postponed because the stableboys called a 24-hour strike last night. The boys are demanding a wage increase of 80 francs daily. Not Extended Auckland critics say that Soneri made light of her 10-1 in the York Handicap and won brilliantly. She had the speed to hold a forward position from the barrier rise, and was too good for the opposition in the straight, winning with her rider sitting still.
