DUVAUCHELLE There was a small entry of cattte at the monthly cattle sale at DuvaucheQe on Friday, the yarding consisting of about UD head of fat cattle and about 40 head of stores, and a few springers. There was an absence of good straight ewes in the store pens, and there were no consignments from outside the district. The stores consisted mostly of dairy hero culls, and the demand was not bright The few springers offered sold well under keen competition, and anything of a forward class brought high prices. The beef market was good, and well up to ruling Addington market rates. The yarding was mostly of prime well-finished sorts and the sale was a brisk one. The ranga of prices was as follows:—extra pnnje sters, £2O to £22 15s; prime steers, £l5 » to £18; two-year-old steers. • £ll 176 M to £l2; extra prime heifers, £l4 2s 6d to £l7 7s 6d: unfinished sorts, £7 17s 9d to £8 ss; extra prime cows. £l3 7s 6d to £l4 15s: prime cows, £9 2s 6d to £ll hs 6d; unfinished sorts. £4 2s 6d to £8 Itß. IMPROVED TIMBER SUPPLT Increasing quantities of pine and supplies of imported cedar and Oregon timber were improving the outlook for the building industry, stated Mr G. W. Sanders, chairman of the Parker Lamb Timber Company, Ltd., at the annual meet* ing last week. The only deterrent to the greater use of the imported types w2 * the relatively high prices. MINING Associated Gold.—Dredges of Associated Gold Dredges (N.Z.), Ltd., for the week ending June 7, recovered 74 ounces from 52,433 yards in 1934 dredging hours. Clutha.—The dredge return for w week-ended June 6 was 165 ounces in hours.—(P.A.)
