RECORD PRICE FOR FRENCH HORSE
LONDON, June 6. Chanteur II won the Coronation Cup, one mile and a half, at Epsom a few hours after Mr W. Hill, a bookmaker, had bought him from the French owner, Mr MafCel Boussac, for £70,000. This is the. biggest price ever paid for a racehorse in England. Chanteur 11, one of the best horses in Europe, gave a dazzling display to win the cup. Previous record prices for horses in training were £60,000 for Call Boy in 1927, and a similar amount for Nimco in 1938.
