Search for Missing Children.— Seven hours of anxious search by parties of police, residents of Thorndon. and helpers from further afield for two small children reported missing from their home in Tinakori road on Friday, ended in anti-climax at 12.20 a.m. on Saturday. The children, Kenneth Massey, aged 6. and Susan Bell, aged 7. who were living in the same h'ouse. disappeared between 5 and 5.30 p.m. Darkness fell and no trace could be found of the children. Their descriptions were broadcast and passed to constables on patrol. There was a torchlight search of the scrub and bush on the Tinakori Hills. At 12.20 a.m. Mrs Massey, who had returned to the house heard a faint tap on the back door and the children walked in. They hed hidden in a big box in the backyard and had fallen asleep.—(P.A.)
