FOOD SHORTAGE IN GERMANY
MESSAGE TO LORD PAKENHAM LONDON. May 11. Representatives of all towns in the North Rhine-Westphalia area have telegraphed to Lord Pakenham. the Minister responsible for the British zone of Germany, demanding all possible measures to alleviate the food shortage. The telegram said that the shortage had exceeded all fears and, failing relief, the municipal administrations could not be responsible any longer.
Lord Pakenham said at Dusseldorf to-day that the food situation there was appalling compared with what it had been only recently.
