FOOD FOR INDIA
“ DIFFICULT SITUATION AHEAD”
(Rec. 7 p.m.) BANGALORE, May 11. “India is facing a difficult food situation because of the failure of wheat crops in India and the’ inadequate supply of food grains from abroad,” said Dr. Rajendra Prasad, Food Minister in the Interim Government. He added that India had so far received only 182,000 tons of 400,000 tons of rice which were allocated to India for the first half of 1947. The Government was not prepared for a food crisis as the crops had shown promise in the early stages.
