CLUB FLYING
DEPUTATION WAITS ON MINISTER “ The Press ” Special Service WELLINGTON, May 10. Two requests on behalf of the Royal Aero Club of New Zealand were made to the Minister of Defence, Mr F. Jones, by a deputation from the club headed by Mr W. J. Sexton, president of the Auckland Aero Club, and Mr L. W. Swan, the secretary. The Minister was asked to lift the suspension on Commercial charter flying and to permit a returh to pre-war conditions, said Mr Sexton. He said the clubs would be happy if licences were granted through the National Airways Corporation. There was no possibility of the clubs conflicting with the corporation. The clubs also asked that members of the Air Training Corps and tfie Civil Reserve be given training through the clubs, he continued. The proposals were that Tiger Moth aircraft should be lent to the clubs for training and that the trainees should have first call On the aircraft. They also asked that buildings and plant be made available for tlje purpose of a central repair depot to service the trainees’ aircraft, and that the plant be operated by a private company to be formed, capital being subscribed by the clubs, and probably run on a co-operative basis. Mr Sexton said that the clubs had not yet received any information from Mr Jones Whether the Government would grant the requests.
