WANGANELLA DISPUTE

DISCUSSIONS WITH LABOUR FEDERATION (P.A.) WELLINGTON, May 10. Discussions between the national council of the New Zealand Federation of Labour and the deputies of the seven unions concerned in the Wanganella dispute are authoritatively described as constructive and valuable, and there are more hopeful signs of a move for a settlement from the union side. t _ Yesterday, the unions continued stating their case to the council of the federation, and representatives .left with the intention of reporting, probably on Monday, to a full committee of the unions concerned. It is expected that the executive of the federation will now ask for a conference with the unions, and this may be held on Monday afternoon.
