STALIN TO BRITISH LABOUR DELEGATES
“A DIFFERENT WAY TO SOCIALISM ” (Rec. 8 p.m.) LONDON, May 10. Details of Mr Stalin’s conversation with the British Labour delegation which visited Moscow last year are disclosed for the first time in the annual report to be presented to the Labour Party’s Whitsun conference at Margate. Mr Stalin, the report says, recognised that the British had a different Way Of travelling towards Socialism from the Russians, but the Russians believed their way was the shortest, if the most difficult, and that it might be accompanied by bldodshed. Britain W the dpportunity of a mOTe peaceful approach, but the process would be Much longer. "But you have a habit of getting there,” Mf Stalin added. llie report also says that Mr Stalin confessed that he had been surprised by the result of Britain’s last General Election. He had not thought such a result was possible at the time.
