FLOW OF IMMIGRANTS TO AUSTRALIA

MORE THAN 22,000 BRITONS SINCE 1945 (Rec. 10 p.m.) CANBERRA, May 9. A total of 22,274 British immigrants had arrived in Australia between August 15, 1945, and January 31, 1947, said the Australian Minister of Immigration (Mr A. A. Calwell) in the House of in reply to a question. Foreign migrants in the same period numbered 2605, of whom about 700 were refugees. In addition, 2873 British former servicemen and women received their discharges in Australia. Allied servicemen discharged in Australia numbered 821 Americans and 105 Dutchmen.
