BROADCAST SPORTS RESULTS

Sir,—l would like to know why the 3ZB sports announcer oersists in announcing race results from other centres on the Saturday 5.45 p.m. sports session before giving out local sports results. On Saturday, April 26, of a session of 13 minutes, nine were occupied by six race meeting results from other centres. All these results were repeated. The local sports results were then rushed through in such a hurry that one was left wondering as to what the actual results were. Some results were left out because of lack of time. This would not be so bad but for the fact that race results are broadcast two or three times during the afternoon. I am not biased against racing but I think that local sports should come first, irrespective of what it is.—Yours, etc., LOCAL FIRST. May 6, 1947. [Mr J. S. Stannage, station-director of 3ZB. says he will be ’pleased to supply full information if the correspondent will call at the station.]
