DAY OF PRAYER
Sir, —The King desires that July 6 be observed as a national day of prayer. Also, the Archbishops of Canterbury and York have asked us to examine our national life and our own personal lives by the standards of the Ten Commandments, and the teachings of Christ. Surely it is a definite challenge to all of us to decide during the coming weeks whether we are on the side of Christ and Christianity, or mammon and destruction. As the individual is the nation, we make or break a nation according to our own standards of living. May I ask, would it be possible, near the hour of silent prayer at 9 p.m., during the coming weeks, to have just a dew Swords spoken each night by the voice of our churches, in asking God’s help and guidance m this most momentous time of decision in our lives? —Yours, etc., MARGUERITE E. HONIWELL. May 8, 1947. *
