BRITISH REFUSE U.S. REQUESTS
SERVICES OF GERMAN SCIENTIST
(Rec. 9 p.m.) ®. LONDON, May 7. The British authorities have refused requests from the United States Government for the services of the German atom scientist, Professor Otto Hahn, says the correspondent of the “Daily Express” at Gottingen. This is the first time America has been denied the right to offer a contract to a British-controlled German scientist who is not needed by Britain, The reason given for the refusal is that unless the drainage of scientific and technical talent from the British zone is stopped Germany will never Bne self-supporting. The British •rities think that 'Professor Hahn t attract the best ybung German scientists from the other zones to Gottingen which is the new cultural centre of Germany.
