AUSTRALIAN WHEAT CONTRACT
Sir, —We have to hand some of the cheap wheat from Australia, but alas all good things must cease some time. The contract has been cancelled, and there will be positively no more at 5s 9d a bushel. The new export price from now on is 15s lljd f.o.r. at port, whether for pig, poultry, or milling. The only other source. for us to draw from is the United States; and its price is 16s 2|d. Perhaps the Government will wake up now and pay our farmers a decent price for their wheat and other products.—Yours, etc., REMEMBRANCE. April 14, 1947.
