The author captained the New Zealand Eleven, 1907-1914. and was President of the New Zealand Cricket Council from 1929-1931 The story begins with a lad of 15 being apprenticed to engineering. and a year later, as* a cricketer, gaining prominence by performing the “hat trick” in his first important match. Youthful experiences in the foundry and on the cricket field make delightful reading, as do chapters on worldwide travel in British tramp steamers, bright stories of life as a marine engineer. and the exciting experiences in shipping and sawmilling ventures in New Zealand. Daniel Reese’s cricket career, his association w’ith W. G. Grace and many other famous players, establish his claim to write on the world’s cricket. “Was It All Cricket” will be available shortly at 27/-.
