S.P.C.A.
Sir, —Why is the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals so dogmatic in the management of its affairs’ Would it not be better for it to move into a new category? Not only the sheep, but also the baa lambs are singing out for a better spin when ill-treated or sick.—Yours, etc.. LEONIS. March 16, 1947.
Sir,—lf the avowed policy of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is education, why was its excellent work among school children •discontinued? Was that too expensive? Surely it is better to close the door before the horse is gone than to caution an offender after the event or punish him? If. as the society suggests, it is the business of the City Council to attend strays, may the correct procedure of approach be published? It is unreasonable to hunt an elusive or perhaps mythical department. either by telephone on in person, when an accident has occurred. A stray needs attention equally with and as speedily as an owned dog or cat. —Yours, etc., FOR THE VICTIM. March 15. 1947.
