MEDICAL SCHOOL LECTURER

CHINESE GRADUATE’S POSITION “ The Press " Special Service DUNEDIN. March 15. Probably for the first time in its history, the Medical School of the University of Otago has on its teaching staff at present a graduate Ot a Chinese University. He is Dr. K. S. Fraricis Chang, professor of anatomy at St John’s University. Shanghai, who came out to New Zealand for health reasons after eight years of war in his homeland. He is attached to the anatomy department at the Medical School until his departure for China about June or July. Dr. Chang married Dr. Elizabeth Pih, first Chinese graduate of the Otago Medical School, whom he met. in China and who also taught in the anatomy department of St. John's until she left with ner husband for New Zealand last October. Although extremely reluctant to talk about himself. Dr. Chang was persuaded to speak of his work in China in the past and of his plans for the future. Born and educated in China, he obtained his M.Sc. degree at St, John’s, but went to America to carry out post-graduate work at Cornell University, New York State. There he obtained his Ph.D. degree. He is not a doctor of medicine but. of biological science.
