Tuam-High streets. 51729 Canterbury Boats for Picton The hydroplane, Atom 11, winner of the South Island 225 cubic-inch hydroplane championship at Pleasant Point on January 3, will be Canterbury’s representative for the Masport Cup contest, to be held at Picton to-day. A. Johnston, the owner-driver of Atom 11, expects to attain a speed of 50 miles an hour in Picton Harbour. At this speed from start to finish he may be counted upon to extend the higher-powered boats over the 21-mile course. The New Brighton PowerBoat Club, which has AtonWH as one of its representative hydroplanes, will make a strong bid for the other races to be competed for at Picton on the same day Poti Tiere, Spitfire, Zipper, and Myra B \vill compete in the Black and White Cup. This race is over 15 miles. The Canterbury Sailing and Power-Boat Association is supporting and assisting the Canterbury boats at the Picton regatta, and will be represented by Mr Stan Rich, of the Charteris Bay Club.
