Senior pupils of Catholic schools at Westport spent Thursday picking blackberries,, which will be sold to raise money for sending food parcels to the starving children of Europe. There is a prolific crop of blackberries in the district this year, and many residents are augmenting their income gathering the berries, which are in demand for jam manufacturing firms at Nelson and Christchurch.
