PROGRESS OF FOURS TOURNAMENT
The four teams left in the Canterbury Bowling Centre’s champion of champions fours competition after the first three rounds of play are: Cashmere (skipped by R. E. McNlsh), United (J. M. Giles), Christchurch (J. Ainger), and Shirley (F. S. H. Williams). The semi-finals and final will be played .at the Edgew<are green next Saturday. Results were:— Opawa Green First Round.—Canterbury (R. E. McNish) 19, Sumner (W. Broughton) 17; Cashmere (W. G. Ives) 22, Edgeware (G. Williams) 13; Sydenham (R. Kennerley) 22, Hornby (T. B. Grant) 17; Lyttelton (S. Wales) 16, Rangiora (G. Gibling) 10; United (J. M. Giles) 18, St. Albans (J. D. Renton) 13; Spreydon (J. Howatson) 23, New Brighton (J. T. Bisman) 15; Riccarton (E. Seward) and Elmwood (G. H. Linley) each /had a bye. Second Round.—Lyttelton 19, Sydehham 12; United 21,. Spreydon 17; Elmwood 33, Riccarton 8; Cashmere 21, Canterbury 19. Third Round.—Cashmere 22, Lyttelton 11; United 25, Elmwood 6. Cashmere Green First Round.—Christchurch (J. Ainger) 24, Rakaia (G. R. Tatterson) 19; Beckenham (A. Carrell) 21, Opawa (G. T. Owen) 15; Linwood (D. Jones) 20, Imperial (R. Shore) 16; Shirley (F. S. H. Williams) 22, Belfast (J. Ramsay) 11; Woolston (W. Puddle 25, Papanui (J. Hadlev 20). Avon (H. McGuigan), K.W.M.C. (S. Robson) and R.S.A. (J. Whyte) each had a bye. Second Round.—K.W.M.C. 24, Avon 13; Linwood 21, Beckenham 20; Shirley 21, Woolston 17; Christchurch beat R.S.A. by default. Third Round.—Christchurch 19, K.W. M.C. 18: Shirley 26, Linwood 6. z ( DIGGERS’ ANNUAL MATCH One hundred and twelve fours from clubs at Christchurch, Blenheim, Timaru and Oamaru, the new Disabled Servicemen’s Club, and various country centres took part in the- annual Diggers’ tournament which was held <m Saturday under the auspices of the R.S.A Bowling Club. Results of post-sectional play were:— First Round: Giddens (Barrington) beat Spearman (R.S.A.); Bell (Barrington) beat Richards (Belfast); Watts (Beckenham) beat Hoffman (Canterburv) - Dabourn (Shirley) beat Goldsmith (Timaru). Semi-finals: Watts beat Dabourn, Bell beat Giddens. Final: Watts beat Bell
