LIFE-SAVING CONTEST
GOOD FELLOWSHIP TROPHY SUMNER BEATS ST. CLAIR (P.A.) DUNEDIN. March 9. The surf life-saving contest for the Good Fellowship trophy, which has been revived after a lapse of six years, was held at St. Clair to-day, between sixman teams from the St. Clair Life-saving Club and the Sumner Surf Club, the Sumner team winning the trophy by a narrow margin of points. A crowd of more than 3000 people saw the contest and other rescue and resuscitation competitions and demonstrations organised by the St. Clair Club. Sumner has now won the trophy five times and St. Ciair, which has held it since it was last competed for in 1941, has gained it six times since the contest was inaugurated in 1932. Results were as follows: Six-man Rescue and Resuscitation Contest (Good Fellowship trophy).—Sumner Siirf Club, 69.1 points, 1; St. Clair Lifesaving Club, 66.69 points, 2. Senior Four-man Alarm.—St. Kilda Surf Club, 67.05 points, 1; St. Clair Life-Sav-ing Club B, 63.48 points, 2; St. Clair Life-saving Club A, 62.75 points, 3; Sumner Surf Club, 57.69 points, 4. Junior Four-man Alarm.—St. Kilda Surf Club. 66.16 points, 1; Sumner Surf Club, 63.58 points, 2; St. Clair Ladies* Surf Club, 60.58 points, 3; St. Clair Lifesaving Club, 57.02 points, 4.
