EXPERIMENTS IN AUSTRALIA

ABORIGINES NOT IN DANGER (Rec. 8.30 p.m.) CANBERRA, March 7. "Danger to aborigines in the rocket range area in Central Australia is only a remote possibility,” says a report by the Australian Committee on Guided Projectiles tabled in Parliament. The report says that the missiles will be shot without explosive warheads. People whe were heard by the committee on the subject of danger to the natives failed to advance any reason precluding satisfactory arrangements for the safety and welfare of the aborigines. Only an unforeseen eventuality. such as a breakdown in the control of the flight of a particular projectile. could result in physical danger to the aborigines. The central reserves are 60.000 square miles in area and are occupied by 1800 aborigines.
