Kerbing and Channelling
It will probably be necessary for the Christchurch City Council to raise a special loan for new footpaths and channels when cement for the work is available, according to the works committee. Reporting to the council on Monday evening, the committee said that only a small percentage of the areas joining the city was provided with footpaths and channels. If it were only the older settled of the new areas that had to be considered, there would be years of work ahead, but building was proceeding so fast in almost unformed streets that the work was piling up more and more.
