ACCIDENTS

BUS AND CAR COLLIDE PASSENGERS’ NARROW ESCAPE Four passengers in a car which collided with a Tramway Board bus at the corner of Bretts road and Chapter street last evening had a lucky escape. The car was severely damaged, and three of the occupants suffered only minor injuries. The fourth, Isobel Hancox. aged 15 years, of 30 Newnham terrace, Upper Riccarton, received back injuries and was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital, where her companions were treated as out-patients. Last evening she was reported to be in a satisfactory condition. The bus left the Springfield road terminus at 7.54 p.m. None of the passengers was injured. Soon after the accident occurred, a relief vehicle was sent from the Square, and the only disruption of the service was the loss of one trip. The front of the bus involved in the collision was damaged and the wind-, screen broken. • The bus was later taken to the shed under its own power. FALL FROM SCAFFOLDING Falling from scaffolding at his work yesterday morning, Gordon Davies fractured his right leg. At 9 o’clock he was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital, and last evening his condition was reported to be satisfactory. ,
