SIR CLUTHA MACKENZIE, who was recently awarded the KaisariHind Medal (first class) for his services in India, where he has been supervising the setting up of a St. Dunstan’s Hostel for the care and training of blinded soldiers. Blinded during the war of 1914-18, Sir Clutha Mackenzie later became a member of the New Zealand House of Representatives, and from 1923 to 1938 he was director of the New Zealand Institute for the Blind, Auckland. During the recent war he held the rank of lieutenantcolonel and was special adviser on blindness to the Government of India. This photograph was taken when he visited England recently.
