ASSAULT ON CHINESE

TWO MEN CHARGED (P.AJ AUCKLAND. January 24. A sequel to an assault and robbery in a house at midnight on Tuesday, when two Chinese were the victims, was the appearance in the Magistrate’s Court today of Selwyn Caplan, aged 21, ship’s fireman, and Benso Scalabrini, aged 20, an American seaman. They were charged jointly with robbing Charlie Wong Chuck and Fong Hon of 1800 American dollars valued at £540, two half-sovereigns, £471 in money, a gold chain,, and a £2 goldpiece, of a total value of £1024. They were also charged with using, personal violence 4o the two Chinese. The accused were remanded until January 31. •
