BOXING

TOUR OF SOUTH AFRICA ABANDONED

(P.A.) HASTINGS, January 24. Because of transport difficulties, the New Zealand Boxing Association has been compelled to abandon the proposed tour of South Africa by a team of New Zealand amateur boxers. This decision was announced to-day by Mr G P. Aldridge, secretary of the association The reason given was the inability of the South African Boxing Association to complete transport arrangements in time. There is a proposal to send boxers who would have qualified for the team on a tour of New Zealand.
