The new prices will operate when the shops reopen on Tuesday. This follows the announcement by the Prime Minister (Mr Chifley) last wepk that wholesale meat prices would be raised Id 3 pound, strong protests have been made against the irir crease by union officials, housewives, apd members of Parliament. Selected prices a pound will be: fillet beef. 2s 7fi; sirloin. Is 4d; mutton, short loin chop, Is 2d; hindquarter, Is; lamb, leg, Is 4d; forequarter, lljd; veal fillets, Is 3d.
