BRITISH SPOKESMAN’S COMMENT (Rec. 7 P-m.) LONDON, Jan. 16. The Russian Note replying to the United States Government’s suggestion that the Polish general elections would not be conducted freely and fairly said Russia regarded a further approach to Poland as interference in a matter of domestic concern.

A British Foreign Office spokesman said it was surprising that the Russian Government should consider it suitable for the Big Three foreign Powers to exact pledges from the Polish Government relating to the conduct of the elections but should consider it interference if the Big Three Powers attempted to see that the pledges were carried out.
