FORBURY PARK CLUB
TO-DAY’S. PROSPECTS
Bien Sur’s record this season includes a second placing to Quite Happy in the Empire Handicap at the New Brighton ‘Trotting Club’s meeting on .December 21, a second placing to Absolutely in the Templeton Handicap on the first day of the Canterbury Park Trotting Club’s meeting, and a second placing to Scholarship in the' Middleton Handicap on the second day of the same club’s meetings Trained for Mr H. G. Cook by C. S. Donald, Belfast, Bien Sur is now at the top of his form, and he may top off his consistent record with a win in the King George Handicap at the Forbury Park Trotting Club’s meeting to-day. The 12 yards division includes likely improvers in Absolutely, Ben Adam, Jeeves, Manpower and Bel Hamed. Bel Hamed showed her best form for some .time when she finished in second place to Gold Peg in the Boxing Day Handicap at the Ashburton Trotting Club’s meeting on December 26. Bel Hamed appears to have improved under T. H. Gunning’s care, and if she leaves the mark smoothly she may spring a surprise to-day. Manpower finished In second place to Wade Lane in the Prebbleton Handicap at the Canterbury Park Trotting Club’s meeting after appearing to be hampered in the running at a critical stage of the race, and he may offer most opposition to Bien Sur, Absolutely and Bel Hamed at the finish. Though Cameronian appears to be favourite for the Dunedin Trotting Cup. Fancy Goods, Liberty Bond, Dundee Sandy, Nyallo Scott and Dunmore all have their admirers. Cameronian’s displays at the Canterbury Park Trotting Club’s meeting stamp, him as a high-class pacer;, and, a good stayer, he should work his way to Cup company this season. Dunmore has come into favour for the big event and, in what should provide a thrilling contest, he may fight out the finish with Cameronian and Fancy Goods. The club has received solid support from owners and trainers, and investors will have a difficult task in selecting the winners from the large fields of evenly matched horses.
