LAW AGAINST CARTELS
U.S. MEASURE IN GERMANY
(Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDON, Jan. 11 Violators of the ban on the formation of German industrial monopolies under the United States Military Gov-* ernment’s decartelisation lawfe will be liable to fines up to £5OOO or 10 years’ imprisonment, says Reuter’s correspondent in Berlin. The law makes it mandatory that al) German business enterprises located entirely in the United States zone, which employ 10,000 and more workers, shall be broken up as excessive concentrations “unless the Military Government approves their continuance.”
The law also prohibits any German belonging to an international cartel. A senior Military Government official said the British Military Government would approve the new law, which would operate- in the British Zone.
The Berlin Radio says the German Socialist Party said the Russian military administration had granted the party’s request to suspend the dismantling of German industries.
