BICYCLES

Sir, —When are bicycles going to be registered? Recently I was knocked down by one when crossing Cathedral square (at the crossing) and had my watch broken and received a There was no policeman about and no inspector, and no number on the bicycle, so I was helpless. Yesterday, I was going over the crossing at the corner of Colombo and Cashel streets and a little girl was walking in front of me, when a lout on a bicycle came rushing across, took no notice of the red signal against him, and knocked the child over. When I remonstrated with him, he was very rude and said she was not looking where she was going—a very poor excuse, which was not true. It is a pity inspectors did not spend more time watching cyclists, who are a menace on the roads, especially three riding abreast, who never seem to be prosecuted.—Yours, etc., WATCH THE CYCLISTS.
