The weather forecast for Canterbury | issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 20 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: Situation: an anti-cyclone covers New Zealand, but a cold front is approaching the South Island from the west. Forecast to 5 p.m.: easterly to north-easterly winds predominating, fresh at times on the coast. Weather fair to fine. Temperatures mild to warm. The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Variable winds, northerlies gradually predominating. Weather fair and mild mainly, but scattered rain later developing in South Westland. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather was fine and sunny yesterday, with a north-east wind. The maximum temperature was 62.2 degrees. At 1 o’clock this morning the sky was clear, with a light easterly wind. The barometer, steady, registered 29.96 inches (1014.6 millibars).
