MR F. W. RENAUT
The death has occurred in London of Mr Frederick W. Renaut, London manager for the Gear Meat Company. Ltd., Wellington, in his eightieth year Mr Renaut was a son of Captain C H. Renaut. who commanded four ships (Celaeno. Glenlora. Pleidne. and Crusader) in voyages from Britain to New Zealand from 1864 on; and was a grandson of Captain William Renaut. who brought the Blundell to Otago in 1848. the first ship to be recorded through the customs there. Mr Renaut was a brother of Captain C. M. Renaut. who after long service at sea I in sail and steam, became Superintendent of Mercantile Marine at Lyttel- ! ton. Another brother. Mr Frank Renaut. gave notable service as second officer of the Elingamite when that ship was wrecked with great loss of life on one of the Three Kings Islands on November 9, 1902. He lost his life in a wreck on the New South Wales coast about a year later. A sister, . Miss Bessie Renaut, was killed with other missionaries in China in the 1 Boxer uprising of 1900 . Mr F. W. Renaut succeeded his father (who died in 1914) as London manager of the Gear Meat Company, and lived at Leytonstone. London. He leaves three daughters. Mrs G. Grayson and Mrs G. Ball (both of whom I live in England), and Mrs C. Minnsen I (who lives in France).
