INDIANS REVOLT IN BOLIVIA

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) LA PAZ (Bolivia), January 10. The Government has dispatched troops, supported by reconnaissance aircraft, to crush an insurrection of Indians in west Bolivia. The Minister of the Interior (Mr Robert Bilbao Lavieja) said that the uprising was organised by the National Revolutionary Movement, which supported the recently overthrown Villaroel regime. [President Villaroel was lynched on July 21 last year.] The Indians began the revolt during the counting of the votes in Bolivia’s Presidential elections, where the National Revolutionary Movement candidate is running a poor third, and a Right-winger is leading.
