OBITUARY
MR A. H. DEIGHTON (P.A.) WAIROA, January 13. The death has occurred of Mr Arthur Haerepo Deighton, aged 63. Born at Wairoa, he took up the printing trade, and for some time was employed in Dannevirke and Nelson. Later he returned to Wairoa, where he founded the Wairoa “Star.” He was managing-director for more than 20 years and retired from the managership because of ill-health, but retained a position on the directorate
MR J. , FAULKS (P.A.) DUNEDIN, January 13. The death occurred to-day at Omakau, Central Otago, of Mr John Faulks, aged 77, formerly prominent as a pastoralist and an owner and breeder of racehorses. MR H. G. HINTON The death occurred recently at Colac Bay, Southland, of Mr Henrv Godfrey Hinton, second son of Mrs Hinton and the late Mr Daniel Hinton, of Invercargill, in his sixty-ninth year. Mr Hinton was born in Invercargill and was educated at the Middle School. As an employee of the New Zealand Railways he was stationed for many years at Colac, and was also at Tokanui for a few years. He held the rank of sergeant in the South African War, in which he served with the 7th and 10th Contingents. Mr Hinton’s wife, who was formerly Miss Mary Elliott, of Colac Bay. two sons, and five daughters survive him. One of his sons is the Victoria Cross winner, Mr J. D. Hinton. Mr Frank Hinton, of Westport, is a brother of Mr H. G. Hinton.
