GORE BAY GALA

A SUCCESSFUL EVENT The Gore Bay Improvement Association held a beach gala at Gore Bay on Saturday to raise funds for improvements to the bay. There was a very large attendance. Life-saving demonstrations by teams from the North Brighton, Central Brighton. South Brighton, and Taylor’s Mistake clubs created keen interest. Competitions, side-shows, and refreshment stalls were well patronised. Swimming events in the Buxton stream were keenly contested. Members of the association include not only residents from the Gore Bay and the Cheviot district, but also campers and many other regular visitors and holiday makers from Christchurch and other parts of Canterbury. The gala was the first to be held by the association, and the funds raised far exceeded expectations.
