The weather forecast for Canterbury issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 20 hours .following the time of issue, is as follows: Situation: an extensive anti-cyclone lies from Tasmania far to the south of Southland. A depression east of the South Island is moving away. Forecast to 5 p-.m.: moderate winds from a southerly quarter. A few brief showers at first north of Banks Peninsula. Weather otherwise cloudy and cool, but improving. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Moderate winds from an easterly quarter. Weather fair to fine and mild. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER 'Th® weather in Christchurch during the week-end was fine, except for a few light showers. There was a moderate south-west wind. At 1 o’clock this morning the skv overcast, and there was no wind. The barometer, at 29.85 inches (1010.8 millibars), was rising. Meteorological observations taken at* the Magnetic Observatory.
