REGISTERED MUSIC TEACHERS

CONFERENCE TO BE HELD IN CHRISTCHURCH The annual conference of the Society of Registered Music Teachers of New Zealand will be held in Christchurch, commencing on January 22. Teachers from many centres of the Dominion will attend the meetings, which will be held at Canterbury University College, commencing with a mbrning tea reception, when the Mayor (Mr E. H. Andrews) will welcome the visiting members. Speakers at the conference will be Miss Mary Martin (Dunedin) on “The Complete Musician,’’ Mr Stanley Oliver (Wellington, chairman of the Music Teachers’ Registration Board) on “The Choir and its Conductor,” and Mr Thomas J. Young (lecturer in music at the Teachers’ Training College, Wellington) on “Music in Elementary Schools.” There will be a conversazione at the Mayfair Lounge on the Wednesday evening, and during the three day sessions remits covering a wide range of subjects will be discussed. Mr Ernest Empson, president of the Christchurch branch, will be the conference chairman.
