MEN CEASE HUNGER STRIKE ONE MAN ADMITTED TO HOSPITAL (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, January 9. Eighty Royal Indian Air Force men who started a hunger strike on January 4 at Vizagaptan are reported to have given up on January 7. Sixtyfour who refused duty on January 4, and were arrested, have been released on condition that they return to normal work. One man has been admitted to hospital. Several are in a weak condition. It was unofficially stated that special meals had been prepared under orders of the medical officer, presumably for forcible feeding. The hunger strike followed complaints about other conditions.
