Gaol for Bigamy.— “ln my opinion if the Court does not impose imprisonment it will be weakly giving way to leniency because you are a woman,” said Mr Justice Callan in the Auckland Supreme Court yesterday in sentencing Viola Muriel Smith, aged 32, to two months’ imprisonment for bigamy, which she admitted. His Honour said the woman’s conduct was very irresponsible and she had grossly deceived one man.—(P.A.)
